PNP Seeks Answers on Departure of Five Senior Officials at APC Bank

Local, Politics, | By Correspondent July 15, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – PNP parliamentary leader Ruthmilda Larmonie-Cecilia has submitted questions to Minister of Finance Charles Cooper seeking clarification about the sudden departure of two statutory directors and three senior staff members from APC Bank. She wants to know whether the personnel changes are linked to financial, operational, or integrity-related issues.

According to Larmonie-Cecilia, APC Bank has so far stated only that the departures are part of a restructuring process. She argues that this explanation is insufficient, as it does not clarify why five senior officials left the bank at nearly the same time or who made the decision.

The opposition lawmaker is also asking whether the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS) was involved in the process. Specifically, she wants to know if the regulator identified any irregularities or whether the changes were purely an internal decision by APC Bank.

In addition, Larmonie-Cecilia has requested information about APC Bank's financial health. She is asking whether the bank continues to meet liquidity and solvency requirements following its acquisition of PSB Bank.

The PNP leader also raised concerns about the assets of the General Pension Fund of Curaçao (APC). She is requesting assurances from Minister Cooper that pension funds will not be used to absorb any potential losses or financial shortfalls at APC Bank.

According to Larmonie-Cecilia, the limited information released so far has created uncertainty among pensioners and future retirees. She referred to previous financial crises involving Girobank and ENNIA, saying those experiences underscore the importance of transparency from both the government and financial regulators.

The parliamentary questions now await a formal response from the Minister of Finance.
