WILLEMSTAD – Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas and Dutch State Secretary Eric van der Burg held a high-level meeting on Thursday, July 16, 2026, focused on strengthening cooperation within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The meeting took place at the residence of the Representative of the Netherlands in Curaçao and centered on the future of cooperation between Curaçao and the Netherlands.

During the talks, both officials discussed how the relationship between the two countries can be further developed and strengthened. The implementation and future direction of the Landspakket reforms were also addressed, including possibilities for shaping the next phase of cooperation.
The upcoming Kingdom Conference, scheduled to begin in November in Sint Maarten, was another topic of discussion. The meeting will focus on strengthening relations within the Kingdom and creating opportunities for closer cooperation between the countries.
The conversation also included Curaçao’s national football team, the Blue Wave, and the achievements of both football teams, reflecting the growing importance of sports as part of the relationship between Curaçao and the Netherlands.
The meeting forms part of ongoing discussions between Curaçao and the Netherlands about governance, cooperation and shared challenges within the Kingdom.
