WILLEMSTAD – A man lost his life Thursday morning, October 29, 2026, after being struck by a vehicle on Schottegatweg-Noord near the Rio Canario police station.
According to the Curaçao Police Force (KPC), the Police Dispatch Center received a report of a serious traffic accident at approximately 7:36 a.m.
The first police officers arriving at the scene discovered a man lying on the roadway showing no signs of life. A vehicle involved in the accident was also found at the location.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the vehicle was traveling along Schottegatweg-Noord in the direction of Post 5 when it struck the pedestrian.
The circumstances that caused the collision remain under investigation.
Police reported that the victim sustained severe injuries to his head and other parts of his body as a result of the impact.
A police doctor was called to the scene and officially pronounced the man dead.
Authorities have not yet released the victim's identity or provided additional information about the driver involved in the collision.
Officers from the Traffic Department are continuing their investigation to determine exactly how the accident occurred.
