WILLEMSTAD – The stars of the Paseo Artístico Nashonal (National Artistic Walk) will be temporarily removed to undergo adjustments aimed at protecting the project from damage caused by strong waves in the area.
The first five stars of the Paseo Artístico Nashonal were recently inaugurated during an opening ceremony held on June 30 at Fuik, in front of Rif Fort in Otrobanda. The event was attended by several ministers, members of the Curaçao Parliament and members of the public.
The artistic walkway was created to recognize and promote Curaçao’s local artists who have made significant contributions in different artistic disciplines, including music, visual arts, literature and performing arts.
During the first edition of the Paseo Artístico, five artists were honored for their achievements and contribution to Curaçao’s cultural development. Their stars were installed as a permanent tribute to their work and legacy.
The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport (ESKD) announced that the plaques will be temporarily removed to carry out protective adjustments. The decision was taken after observing the impact of strong waves in the area, which could cause damage and deterioration to the installations.
The work is expected to take approximately one week. According to the ministry, the necessary measures will ensure better protection of the stars so that the Paseo Artístico Nashonal can continue honoring the talent and contributions of Curaçao’s artists for many years to come.
ESKD expects the stars to be reinstalled after the completion of the adjustments.
