WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao Parliament Speaker Fergino Brownbill welcomed the President of the Joint Court of Justice, Sigmar Carmelia, for an official courtesy visit on Tuesday, July 21.
According to Parliament, the meeting provided an opportunity for both leaders to exchange views on various matters of mutual interest concerning the institutions they represent.
At the conclusion of the visit, Brownbill presented Carmelia with a symbolic gift to commemorate his first official visit to the Parliament of Curaçao since assuming office as President of the Joint Court of Justice.
Carmelia was sworn in as President of the Joint Court of Justice on May 11, 2026. His appointment marked the beginning of his leadership of the judicial body that serves Curaçao, Aruba, Sint Maarten, and the Caribbean Netherlands.
The courtesy visit underscored the ongoing relationship between Curaçao's legislative and judicial institutions and their shared commitment to the country's constitutional framework.
