Parliament Honors Outgoing Governor Lucille George-Wout at Recognition Ceremony

WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao Parliament held a recognition ceremony on Friday, April 10, 2026, to honor the retirement of Governor Lucille George-Wout, marking the end of her tenure in one of the island’s highest offices.

The ceremony was attended by Parliament President Fergino Brownbill along with members of Parliament, who gathered to acknowledge George-Wout’s years of service and leadership.

During the event, officials paid tribute to her dedication and the role she played in the development of Curaçao while serving as governor. Speakers highlighted her contributions to governance, stability, and the functioning of the country’s institutions throughout her term.

Parliament expressed its appreciation for what it described as her distinguished service and wished her success in the next phase of her life following her retirement.

George-Wout has served as governor since 2013, becoming the first woman to hold the position in Curaçao. Her departure marks the conclusion of more than a decade in office, during which she played a central role in overseeing constitutional processes and representing the Kingdom on the island.
