WILLEMSTAD – Residents of Otrobanda are being invited to take part in a community dialogue this Friday as part of the first Asamblea di Pueblo Otrobanda, aimed at gathering input on key issues affecting the neighborhood.
The meeting will take place on March 27 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Sentro di Bario Otrobanda and will focus on a central question: what is truly happening within the community?

Organizers say the session will provide a safe and open space for residents to share their experiences, concerns, and ideas for the future of their neighborhood. Participation is free and open to all residents of Otrobanda.
The initiative is led by Curaçao Doughnut Economy, a movement that promotes a balance between social needs and ecological limits, offering alternatives to traditional economic growth through local and circular projects.
The Otrobanda session is part of a broader participatory process that will also take place in the neighborhoods of Montaña and Brievengat. The goal is to actively involve residents in decisions that impact their living environment.
The project will unfold in multiple phases, including community discussions, in-depth dialogues with diverse groups of residents, and a creative translation of collected stories into art forms such as words, visuals, and sound. The results will be presented publicly during the Wintertuin Curaçao Festival in September 2026.
Input gathered from residents will form the basis for concrete proposals and shared insights, which will be returned to the community. A final manifesto will be presented during an official session to stakeholders including the Governor of Curaçao and members of Curaçao Parliament.
Organizers are encouraging residents to participate and make their voices heard. “Come share, listen, and think along. What matters to you in your neighborhood matters to us,” Curaçao Doughnut Economy stated.
