WILLEMSTAD – Fundashon Bos di Hubentut and Human Rights Defense Curaçao (HRDC) have signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen the fight against child abuse and sexual abuse through a new initiative called Kibrando e Gritunan Silensioso ("Breaking the Silent Cries").
The partnership aims to raise public awareness about children's rights, human rights, healthy sexuality and the prevention of sexual abuse. As part of the project, the organizations will organize training sessions, workshops, educational activities and public awareness campaigns covering topics such as bullying, domestic violence, responsible social media use and positive parenting.
Fundashon Bos di Hubentut has been working for more than 30 years to protect children and young people in Curaçao. The organization has focused extensively on preventing child abuse and sexual abuse through education, advocacy and community outreach.
HRDC is joining the initiative as a strategic partner to expand the project's reach and impact.
According to HRDC director Simone de Brabander, child abuse and sexual abuse remain serious social issues that require ongoing attention and a coordinated response.
"We are much stronger when we work together than when we operate separately and each tries to reinvent the wheel," De Brabander said.
The organizations said they will further develop the partnership in the coming months by launching concrete activities for schools, neighborhoods, parents, young people and professionals. They also plan to approach donors and funding partners to support the implementation and long-term sustainability of the project.
Through Kibrando e Gritunan Silensioso, the partners hope to create greater awareness, strengthen prevention efforts and encourage a community-wide approach to protecting children and promoting their rights across Curaçao.
