ONE DREAM, ONE VISION: For the Future of Our Curaçao

Local, | By Press release June 8, 2026

National Future Vision Initiative Launched

WILLEMSTAD – The future of Curaçao begins with a dream. A dream about how we want to live, work, learn, and grow together on our island. Guided by that idea, the national campaign “ONE DREAM, ONE VISION: For the Future of Our Curaçao” has officially been launched, inviting residents to actively contribute their ideas and aspirations for the island’s future.

At the heart of the initiative is one important question:

What is your dream for Curaçao?

The campaign forms part of the broader national process to develop a long-term vision for Curaçao under the banner of “ONE CURAÇAO” (UN KÒRSOU). The project is being carried out on behalf of the Ministry of General Affairs and the Government of Curaçao.

As part of this initiative, the Stichting Overheidsaccountantsbureau (SOAB) has been entrusted with overall responsibility for the project on behalf of the Minister of General Affairs. SOAB has, in turn, contracted the Strategic Results & Development Institute (SRDI) to manage and facilitate the public participation process.

The ultimate goal is to create a widely supported vision that will guide Curaçao’s development over the coming decades. The vision is intended not only to inform government policy and development strategies but, more importantly, to reflect the dreams, values, ambitions, and experiences of the people who shape Curaçao every day.

From Preparation to Participation

The launch of UNKORSOU.COM marks an important new phase in the development of Curaçao’s long-term vision.

Since the first event held in December, discussions have taken place with representatives from government, the private sector, and civil society organizations. Focus groups were also organized with members of the Curaçao diaspora in the Netherlands, as well as with various community groups on the island.

In addition, relevant studies, policy documents, and social developments were analyzed to identify key opportunities and challenges facing Curaçao’s future.

According to organizers, this preparatory phase has established a solid foundation. The next step is to expand the conversation and invite the entire Curaçao community to participate in shaping a shared vision for the future.

Building the Future Together

Curaçao faces significant social, economic, and community challenges. At the same time, the island possesses tremendous strengths, including the knowledge, creativity, resilience, and commitment of its people.

Organizers emphasize that a future vision only gains real meaning when people can recognize themselves in it. For that reason, the central principle of the campaign is:

Together, we create the future of Curaçao.

Through surveys, focus groups, school visits, community discussions, public events, and digital platforms, residents will have multiple opportunities to contribute their ideas about the Curaçao they want to see in the years ahead.

The invitation is extended to young people and seniors, entrepreneurs, students, professionals, social organizations, neighborhood communities, and members of the Curaçao diaspora around the world.

The organizers believe that the future of Curaçao can only be shaped effectively when as many voices as possible are heard.

Opportunities to Participate

Throughout June and July, the ONE CURAÇAO initiative will be present at various football-related events, including World Cup watch parties. A broad online participation program will also be launched to reach as many people as possible.

Whether you were born in Curaçao, live or work on the island, or maintain a strong connection from abroad, organizers stress that every contribution matters.

Your voice matters.

Your ideas matter.

Your dream matters.

Residents are encouraged to share their perspectives, aspirations, and hopes for the island's future and help build a long-term vision that reflects the collective ambitions of the Curaçao community.

“The future of Curaçao will not be determined by one person, one organization, or one generation,” the organizers stated. “The future of Curaçao will be shaped by all of us.”
