Ombudsman Continues Investigation After Minister Fails to Respond to Information Requests

Local, Politics, | By Correspondent May 19, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – The Ombudsman of Curaçao is continuing an investigation into how the government executes rulings issued by the civil servants court after Minister of Governance, Planning and Service Delivery Shalten Hato failed to respond on time to official information requests.

That was confirmed Monday by Ombudsman Keursly Concincion, according to newspaper reports.

The investigation focuses on the government’s handling and implementation of judicial rulings in civil servant cases.

According to the Ombudsman, the minister had until May 12 to submit documents and overviews explaining how the government follows up on court decisions involving civil servants.

“Despite several reminder letters and additional requests, no response was received from the government,” Concincion stated.

The Ombudsman’s office is now proceeding with the investigation despite the lack of cooperation.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about the execution of court rulings within the public sector and the broader issue of compliance with judicial decisions by government institutions.

No further details were immediately released regarding possible next steps or whether additional measures will be taken to obtain the requested information.
