WILLEMSTAD – Beyond its immediate economic impact, the Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival is playing a growing role in building long-term tourism for Curaçao, according to new data from its 2025 edition.

The report shows that the festival acts as a gateway for new visitors, many of whom return to the island after their initial experience. In 2025, a total of 1,031 visitors were identified as repeat tourists whose relationship with Curaçao began through the festival.

This segment represents a shift from event-driven travel to destination-driven tourism, meaning visitors return not for the festival itself, but for the island as a whole.

Even under conservative estimates, these repeat visitors generated approximately $2.52 million in additional tourism spending, demonstrating the festival’s long-term economic value.

The findings suggest that the festival’s impact extends far beyond a single event, contributing to sustained tourism growth and visitor loyalty.

By attracting first-time visitors and converting them into repeat travelers, the festival strengthens Curaçao’s position in the competitive international tourism market.

The results also point to the strategic importance of investing in events that not only generate immediate revenue but also create lasting connections with visitors.

As Curaçao continues to develop its tourism strategy, the North Sea Jazz Festival is emerging as a key tool for long-term destination development.
