Nineteen Families to Move Into New Tera Kòrá Apartments as Housing Project Advances

Local, | By Correspondent May 7, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Nineteen families in Curaçao will be able to move into a new apartment complex in Tera Kòrá starting Friday, marking the next phase of a larger affordable housing project on the island.

The apartments were developed by Fundashon Kas Popular (FKP) in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development, Labour and Welfare (SOAW).

The handover had originally been scheduled for April but was delayed because the units had not yet been fully connected to essential utilities. Authorities have now confirmed that the apartments are connected to water and electricity, making them ready for occupancy.

The Tera Kòrá development is part of a broader housing project consisting of 96 apartments aimed at addressing housing demand for local families.

So far, 36 units have been completed from a construction standpoint, with the remaining 60 expected to be delivered in June.

The project had previously drawn criticism after a group of future residents received their keys before the apartments were ready to be occupied, leaving them unable to move in.

With utility connections now completed, the first 19 families are expected to finally take possession of their homes this week, while the broader housing expansion continues.
