WILLEMSTAD – The recently established School Safety Taskforce has held its first meeting, marking the start of a new government initiative aimed at improving safety in and around schools in Curaçao.
The taskforce met for the first time on Friday, October 2, following its recent establishment by the Curaçao government.

The main objective of the Taskforce Schoolveiligheid is to promote a safe and secure environment for students, teachers and support staff, both inside school buildings and in the areas surrounding schools.
The initiative comes as school safety has increasingly become a subject of public concern in Curaçao, with attention focused not only on what happens inside classrooms and school grounds but also on circumstances that can affect students and personnel in the immediate vicinity of schools.
By establishing a dedicated taskforce, the government aims to create a more coordinated approach to school safety rather than addressing incidents individually.
The first meeting represents the beginning of that process. Further details about the taskforce’s composition, specific measures, priorities and timetable have not yet been announced.
The government is expected to provide additional information as the taskforce develops its approach to improving safety for Curaçao’s school community.
