New Sustainability Education Program Launched for Primary Schools in Curaçao

| By Correspondent March 5, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – A new program aimed at promoting sustainability in primary education has been launched in Curaçao. Through the collaborative platform Club 17 Curaçao, several organizations have joined forces to introduce the Life Project, a multi-year initiative focused on environmental awareness among young students.

The program is being implemented in partnership with Aqualectra, Maduro & Curiel’s Bank (MCB), CARMABI Foundation, and Limpi Recycling.

The initiative focuses on water education, environmental awareness, recycling and healthy habits among young people. During the first year, three primary schools will be equipped with water coolers, while students will receive reusable water bottles connected to a digital learning program designed to teach them about sustainable water use.

As part of the project, students will also visit the Experience Center of Limpi Recycling at Sambil Curaçao. There, they will participate in workshops that focus on waste reduction and the principles of a circular economy. Outside of school visits, the center will also be open to the general public.

In addition, Aqualectra will install three public water refill stations across the island, allowing residents and tourists to refill drinking water and encouraging the use of reusable bottles.

The Life Project is planned as a three-year initiative aimed at helping young people become more aware of sustainable practices related to water use, waste management and environmental protection.
