WILLEMSTAD – The newly appointed acting Brigade Commander of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee for the Caribbean, Major M.E. de Groot, paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Curaçao, His Excellency Mauritsz de Kort, on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.

Major De Groot was accompanied by staff advisor H. Trip during the introductory meeting, which focused on strengthening ties and exchanging information on the Marechaussee’s operations in Curaçao and the wider Caribbean region.
During the visit, the Governor was briefed on the responsibilities and activities of the Marechaussee, including its role in border control, security, and law enforcement support. Discussions also covered ongoing cooperation with the Curaçao government and the Curaçao Police Force (KPC).
The meeting highlighted the importance of collaboration between national and Kingdom institutions in maintaining security and stability across the region.
