New Online Learning Platform Launched to Strengthen Public Sector Leadership Across the Dutch Caribbean

Local, Caribbean, | By Correspondent June 1, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Professionals across Curaçao, Aruba, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, St. Eustatius, and Saba now have access to a new online learning platform designed to strengthen public administration, professional development, and leadership throughout the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom.

The initiative is the result of a strategic partnership between The Hague University of Applied Sciences, University of Curaçao Dr. Moises da Costa Gomez, University of Aruba, and Utrecht University.

The platform was officially launched this week and is funded through the Lifelong Learning Catalyst (LLO-Katalysator) program of the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.

According to the participating institutions, the platform serves as a central hub where professionals can access educational programs, courses, training sessions, and masterclasses tailored to the challenges facing governments and organizations in the Caribbean region.

The initiative focuses particularly on strengthening governance, innovation, resilience within the public sector, and the capacity of government institutions to respond to evolving social and economic challenges.

Educational offerings will be available in multiple formats, including in-person, hybrid, and fully online learning options, allowing participants to combine studies with their professional responsibilities.

Users can browse and combine programs from the participating institutions based on their career goals, learning needs, and areas of professional interest.

Focus on Stronger Governance and Professional Development

The four institutions say the partnership is intended to promote lifelong learning and strengthen the capabilities of professionals working throughout the Kingdom.

A key objective is to connect local expertise from the Caribbean islands with international academic knowledge while ensuring that educational content remains relevant to the cultural, social, and economic realities of the region.

The partners believe that investing in continuous professional development is essential for improving public sector performance and strengthening government institutions.

An important feature of the collaboration is the mutual recognition of completed courses, certificates, and educational achievements among the participating institutions.

Officials say this will make it easier for professionals to continue their studies across different institutions and encourage greater mobility, collaboration, and knowledge exchange throughout the Kingdom.

Platform Expected to Expand

The organizers describe the launch as only the first step in a broader effort to create a comprehensive educational infrastructure for the Dutch Caribbean.

There are plans to expand the platform in the coming years by inviting additional vocational, higher education, and university institutions to participate.

By creating a larger network of educational providers, the initiative aims to increase access to professional development opportunities while supporting stronger governance and institutional capacity throughout the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.

For Curaçao and the other islands, the platform represents a new investment in human capital, with the long-term goal of equipping current and future professionals with the skills needed to address increasingly complex public administration and development challenges.
