New Curaçao Housing Program Aims to Improve Access to Mortgages

Local, | By Correspondent May 27, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – One of the central goals of FKP’s new “Mi Kas Awor” program is to make mortgages and home ownership more accessible for Curaçao families who currently struggle to qualify for financing.

According to the housing foundation, the initiative aims to lower barriers to home ownership through support with mortgage access, affordable starter models, homeowner guidance and long-term wealth accumulation.

FKP says the program is designed to ensure public resources contribute more effectively to structural housing development, economic activity, social stability and strengthening the local economy.

The organization argues that public funds should no longer focus exclusively on long-term rental support, but instead help create sustainable property ownership for local families.
