| By Correspondent March 3, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – A new army company has begun its deployment in Curaçao, Aruba and Bonaire this week. During a ceremony on Tuesday morning, command was officially transferred to Captain Marnix, who takes over leadership from Captain Roderik.

The outgoing unit spent four months in the Caribbean region, where soldiers conducted intensive training exercises across the islands. Activities included tactical operations and live-fire drills, carried out in cooperation with local military forces and the Coast Guard. According to the departing commander, the deployment was a valuable experience that allowed troops to gain important operational experience in a tropical environment.

The incoming Bravo “Stier” company will remain in the region for approximately four months. The focus of the new rotation will be on continued training and strengthening cooperation with regional security partners. The unit is also supported by additional medical personnel during its deployment.

The Royal Netherlands Army maintains a permanent company in the Caribbean. The rotating units can be deployed for various operational tasks and train alternately in Curaçao, Aruba and Bonaire.
