Netherlands May Reconsider Stake in Caribbean Air Traffic Control Provider

Local, | By Correspondent April 15, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – The Netherlands may reconsider its role as a shareholder in Dutch Caribbean Air Navigation Service Provider (DC ANSP), according to a recent evaluation commissioned by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management.

The report examines whether there is still sufficient public interest to justify the Dutch government maintaining its 7.95 percent stake in the regional air traffic control organization. DC ANSP is responsible for managing air traffic in the Curaçao Flight Information Region, which includes Bonaire and surrounding airspace.

According to the findings, the Dutch shareholding does not significantly contribute to safeguarding public interests such as aviation safety, as these are already ensured through international regulations set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and national oversight bodies.

The report notes that aviation safety and efficiency are governed by strict global standards and monitored by authorities such as the Dutch Inspectorate for Environment and Transport and the Curaçao Civil Aviation Authority.

While the evaluation concludes that there is no clear necessity for the Netherlands to remain a shareholder, it stops short of recommending an immediate sale. Instead, further analysis is required before any final decision is made.
