WILLEMSTAD – Police issued 23 fines during a traffic control on Schottegatweg Zuid on Tuesday morning, with nearly half of the 47 vehicles inspected found to be in violation of traffic regulations.

The control operation, carried out by the Unit Speciale Taken (UST), took place between 9:30 a.m. and 10:35 a.m. and targeted compliance with basic road safety and vehicle requirements.

Drivers were cited for a range of offenses, including driving without a valid license, lacking proper vehicle inspection documents, and operating without insurance. Several motorists were also fined for not wearing seatbelts.

In addition, one driver received a ticket for having a front windshield that was excessively tinted, in violation of regulations.

Police also removed one vehicle from circulation, towing it to Mahuma after determining it no longer met the required technical standards.

Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of compliance with traffic laws to ensure road safety and reduce the risk of accidents on Curaçao’s roads.
