WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao's Business Climate Index reached its highest level on record in 2025, while more companies reported positive business results despite mixed views about the island's investment climate, according to the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).
The Business Survey 2025 found that 76 percent of surveyed businesses reported positive business results this year, up from 73 percent in 2024 and 69 percent in 2023. Meanwhile, the percentage of businesses reporting negative results declined from 27 percent last year to 24 percent in 2025.
The survey also revealed a more divided assessment of Curaçao's investment climate.
The percentage of businesses that described the investment climate as good increased from 32 percent in 2024 to 40 percent in 2025. However, companies expressing a negative view also increased, rising from 7 percent to 12 percent. Those rating the investment climate as moderate fell from 61 percent to 48 percent.
According to CBS, these contrasting views suggest that businesses are becoming more polarized in their assessment of investment opportunities on the island.
The Business Climate Index continued its upward trend, rising from 128 in 2024 to a record 133 in 2025. The index has increased steadily in recent years, climbing from 72 in 2021 to 99 in 2022, 113 in 2023 and now 133 in 2025—a gain of 61 points over four years.
CBS concluded that business sentiment remained broadly positive during 2025, although opinions varied considerably depending on the sector and the size of the business. The statistics office noted that these differences were more pronounced than in previous years, reflecting a more diverse economic landscape across Curaçao.
