WILLEMSTAD – The Ministry of Finance has launched the pilot edition of “Mini Mòni,” a concise and accessible guide designed to make information about Curaçao’s national budget easier to understand for both citizens and public-sector employees.
Written in clear and accessible language, the guide explains how Curaçao’s national budget is prepared, where government revenue comes from, how public funds are allocated, and how budget decisions affect the daily lives of residents. Mini Mòni is available in Papiamentu and Dutch and is expected to be published annually.
The pilot edition has been released as the 2027 National Budget has been submitted to the Curaçao Parliament. The first Mini Mòni is based on information from the 2026 budget and is intended to give readers a clearer understanding of what they can expect once Parliament considers and approves the 2027 budget.
According to the Ministry of Finance, government budgets can be difficult for many people to understand because they contain extensive financial figures, tables and technical terminology. Mini Mòni translates that information into a more accessible format.
The publication explains government revenues and expenditures and provides insight into how public money is allocated to areas such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, public safety and economic development.
The ministry said no specialized financial knowledge is required to understand the guide. The initiative is intended to broaden public access to financial information and improve understanding of how government finances work.
Through Mini Mòni, the Ministry of Finance also wants to promote greater transparency and encourage more active public participation in discussions about government spending and policy priorities.
According to the ministry, a better-informed population is in a stronger position to participate in discussions about the financial choices that help determine Curaçao’s future.
The 2026 edition of Mini Mòni is available through the Government of Curaçao.
