WILLEMSTAD – Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Sithree van Heydoorn will temporarily travel abroad for health reasons and is expected to be absent for approximately six to eight weeks.
Van Heydoorn informed the community that he will leave Curaçao on August 30, 2026, to undergo a medical procedure abroad, followed by a period of recovery.
During his absence, Minister Charetti America-Francisca will assume responsibility for the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (OWCS).
According to the government, America-Francisca will remain in close contact with Van Heydoorn during his recovery period to ensure continuity within the ministry.
Van Heydoorn is expected to provide the community with an update on his recovery after the procedure and when circumstances permit.
The minister thanked the community in advance for its understanding and well wishes during his treatment and recovery.
