SANTO DOMINGO – Curaçao’s Minister of Economic Development, Dr. Roderick Middelhof, met with representatives of the Dominican Republic’s Civil Aviation Board (Junta de Aviación Civil – JAC) and several airline companies during his working visit to the Dominican Republic as part of efforts to strengthen air connectivity between the two countries.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development, discussions focused on opportunities to expand air links between Curaçao and the Dominican Republic, with the broader goal of positioning Curaçao as a regional hub in the Caribbean.

Representatives from the participating airlines expressed strong interest in the opportunities Curaçao offers, both as a tourism destination and as a strategic location for expanding and creating additional air connections within the region. The meetings form part of Curaçao’s ongoing efforts to enhance regional connectivity, which the government considers essential for economic growth, tourism development, and trade.
Minister Middelhof emphasized the importance of strong aviation links in supporting the island’s long-term economic ambitions. Improved connectivity, he noted, can help attract more visitors, facilitate business opportunities, and strengthen Curaçao’s position as a transportation and logistics center in the Caribbean.
The discussions in the Dominican Republic follow a series of meetings held by the minister with government agencies and business organizations aimed at expanding economic cooperation between the two countries.
According to the ministry, the government will continue pursuing initiatives that improve Curaçao’s accessibility and stimulate greater economic and tourism activity for the island.
