WILLEMSTAD – Minister of Health, Environment and Nature Tyron Boekhoudt visited several healthcare organizations in the Netherlands last week as part of efforts to exchange knowledge and strengthen elderly and long-term care on Curaçao.
During the working visit, Minister Boekhoudt visited Argos Zorggroep and Zonnehuisgroep Vlaardingen, where he received presentations and information about elderly care, dementia care, rehabilitation services, healthcare innovation and the management of healthcare institutions.
Discussions during the visits also focused on financial pressures facing the healthcare sector, the challenges created by an aging population and the importance of reform, efficiency and cooperation within the healthcare chain.
Another major topic was the human-centered and holistic approach used in the Netherlands, where quality of life, patient autonomy and overall well-being play a central role in care delivery.
Minister Boekhoudt described the visits as valuable and inspiring.
According to the minister, the experiences and knowledge gained during the working visits will help Curaçao continue developing and strengthening care services for the island’s elderly population.
