BOGOTA – On the second day of his working visit to Colombia, Minister of Health, Environment and Nature (GMN) Tyron Boekhoudt, together with representatives of the Social Insurance Bank (SVB) and the Curaçao delegation, visited Clínica Colsanitas, part of Grupo Keralty, one of the largest integrated healthcare organizations in the region.
The visit forms part of the efforts by Minister Boekhoudt and the SVB to identify concrete solutions to the long waiting lists that Curaçao is currently facing in specialized healthcare. During the meetings, discussions focused on various opportunities for cooperation between Curaçao and Colombia, including knowledge exchange, support from medical specialists, and other initiatives that could contribute to faster and improved access to specialized care for Curaçaoan patients.

The delegation received presentations on the Colsanitas healthcare model, the organization of high-quality medical services, digital innovation, quality control systems, and the way different medical disciplines collaborate within an integrated healthcare network. Special attention was given to the patient-centered care model that the organization has adopted.
Participants also exchanged experiences regarding the challenges healthcare systems face worldwide, including the growing demand for specialized medical care, shortages of healthcare personnel, and the need to keep healthcare accessible, high-quality, and affordable.
The visit to Clínica Colsanitas is part of a broader mission by the Curaçao delegation in Colombia aimed at identifying practical solutions to reduce waiting lists for specialized healthcare services. Within this framework, the delegation is exploring opportunities for collaboration with Colombian healthcare institutions, expanding knowledge-sharing initiatives, and assessing the possibility of utilizing Colombian medical expertise to improve access to care for the people of Curaçao.
