Military Exercises to Take Place Across Curaçao This Week

Local, | By Correspondent June 22, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Residents who notice military personnel and defense vehicles at various locations across Curaçao in the coming days are being advised not to be alarmed. The Ministry of Defense has announced that several planned military exercises will take place on the island this week.

According to Defense officials, the training activities will be conducted at multiple locations, including the Juliana Bridge, the Queen Emma Pontoon Bridge, the Tafelberg area and the surroundings of Christoffel Mountain. Military personnel and vehicles may therefore be visible in public areas during the exercises.

Defense emphasized that the activities are part of routine training operations aimed at maintaining operational readiness and strengthening cooperation between different military units. The exercises are designed to improve coordination, response capabilities and preparedness for a variety of situations.

Authorities stressed that the presence of military forces does not indicate any emergency, security threat or unusual situation on the island.

“There is nothing to be concerned about,” Defense stated, noting that the exercises are scheduled in advance and form part of regular training programs carried out in the Caribbean region.

The exercises are expected to continue over several days. While some residents may notice increased military activity in and around the designated training areas, daily life on the island is not expected to be significantly affected.

Defense is asking the public for understanding and cooperation while the exercises are underway.
