WILLEMSTAD – Members of the Movementu Futuro Kòrsou (MFK) parliamentary faction paid a working visit to Brasami Curaçao last week to gain a clearer understanding of the institution’s current situation, its operational challenges and opportunities to strengthen its role within the community.

The visit took place on April 23 and formed part of the party’s broader effort to evaluate key social institutions and identify areas where government support and policy action may be needed.
Brasami Curaçao is an organization focused on helping people struggling with chronic addiction. Its mission is to remove people from the streets and support their rehabilitation in a safe and structured environment, with the goal of helping them rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society.
During the visit, members of the MFK faction toured the facilities and held discussions with the management team to gain insight into how the organization operates on a daily basis and the challenges it faces in carrying out that mission.

Also present during the discussions was Minister of Health, Environment and Nature Tyron Boekhoudt.
According to MFK, the talks focused on the institution’s current needs, operational conditions and the strategic steps that could be taken to strengthen its work and support its long-term development.
Special attention was given to continuity of care, service quality and the wellbeing of the clients who depend on Brasami’s rehabilitation programs, as well as the employees responsible for providing that support.
The discussions also explored realistic and sustainable solutions to help improve the institution’s ability to continue serving vulnerable individuals dealing with addiction.
MFK described the visit as an important step in its process of listening, evaluating and working together with institutions that provide essential social services to the community.
The party said the objective is to establish a clear and consistent path forward that addresses existing challenges while ensuring long-term sustainability and stability for Brasami Curaçao.
Addiction and homelessness remain major social challenges on the island, and organizations like Brasami play a key role in offering treatment, structure and support to individuals who often have nowhere else to turn.
The MFK faction reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the government in promoting good governance, constructive dialogue and concrete action aimed at strengthening institutions that serve as pillars of care and rehabilitation within Curaçao’s social system.
The visit comes at a time when Curaçao’s social care institutions are under increasing pressure due to growing demand, financial constraints and broader public health challenges, making long-term planning and government backing increasingly critical.
