WILLEMSTAD – MFK Member of Parliament Sandy Losiabaar has withdrawn his request for a parliamentary question session regarding the progress and delays surrounding the renovation of Marshe Nobo.
The request had been directed to Minister of Economic Development Roderick Middelhof and included a series of questions concerning the status of the renovation project, the causes of construction delays, the working conditions of vendors temporarily relocated to Plenchi Papa Godett, and the measures being taken by the government to ensure the completion of the project.
In an official letter addressed to the President of Parliament, Losiabaar formally canceled the request for the question session.
Despite withdrawing the request, the MFK parliamentarian emphasized that he will continue to closely monitor developments related to Marshe Nobo and the situation of the merchants affected by the ongoing renovation works.
Marshe Nobo, one of Curaçao’s most iconic public markets, has been undergoing a major restoration project aimed at preserving the historic structure while modernizing its facilities. The project has faced delays, prompting concerns from vendors and members of the public about the timeline for reopening the market.
The merchants currently operating from the temporary location at Plenchi Papa Godett have repeatedly expressed hopes that the renovation will be completed as soon as possible, allowing them to return to their traditional place of business in Punda.
For now, the planned parliamentary questioning on the matter will not take place, although Losiabaar indicated that the issue remains on his political agenda.
