WILLEMSTAD – MFK Member of Parliament Shurendi Pieternella has praised the introduction of a new public transportation route in the Sapate neighborhood, describing it as an important improvement for residents who have long faced challenges accessing public transport.
In a statement issued on behalf of the MFK parliamentary faction, Pieternella expressed appreciation to Minister of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning (VVRP) Charles Cooper and ABC Busbedrijf Curaçao for making the new route possible.
According to the parliamentarian, the route will travel through Kaya Noord Sapate and connect with Kaya Hubert M. Ibi Schoop, bringing public transportation services closer to residents of the area.
Pieternella noted that for many years, people living in Sapate have encountered difficulties reaching public transportation in a convenient and safe manner. The new route is expected to benefit families, workers, students and senior citizens by providing easier access to essential services and destinations across the island.
The MFK lawmaker described the initiative as a significant achievement that demonstrates how government institutions can work together to address the needs of local communities.
“This is a clear example of governance that puts people first,” Pieternella said. “I would like to congratulate and thank Minister Charles Cooper for his commitment to improving our public transportation system. I also want to thank the management and staff of ABC Busbedrijf Curaçao for their efforts in making this new route a reality.”
According to the statement, the new service is expected to improve not only transportation but also social inclusion by strengthening connections between neighborhoods and increasing mobility for residents.
MFK emphasized the importance of continuing to invest in basic public services that directly affect the daily lives of citizens. The party believes that improvements to public transportation contribute to a higher quality of life and support the development of local communities.
Pieternella encouraged residents of Sapate to make use of the new route and expressed hope that similar projects will be implemented in other neighborhoods across Curaçao in the future.
The new route forms part of broader efforts to enhance accessibility and mobility throughout the island while ensuring that more residents have reliable access to public transportation.
