MFK is Set to Elects New Party Chairman as Three Candidates Compete for Leadership

WILLEMSTAD – The ruling Movementu Futuro Kòrsou (MFK) is set to elect a new party chairman on Tuesday, with three prominent political figures competing for the leadership of the party.

According to local reports, the candidates are Eduard Braam, Ramón Yung, and Javier Silvania.

The vote will take place at the World Trade Center Curaçao and will determine the successor to current party chairman Sithree van Heydoorn, who decided to step aside to allow for new leadership within the party.

The three candidates are all well-known figures within Curaçao politics.

Braam currently represents Curaçao at the European Union in Brussels. Yung serves as a member of the Curaçao Parliament and vice chairman of Parliament, while Silvania previously served as Minister of Health, Environment and Nature as well as Minister of Finance and currently also serves as a member of Parliament.

In addition to the chairmanship election, new members of the party board will also be selected. Reports indicate that thirteen candidates registered for various leadership positions within the party structure.

The leadership election coincides with the 16th anniversary of MFK. During anniversary activities held over the weekend, the party reflected on its political growth and electoral successes over the past years.

MFK currently leads the government coalition under Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas.
