Meteorological Service Warns of Rough Seas Along Curaçao’s Northern and Western Coasts

Local, | By Correspondent February 4, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – The Meteorologische Dienst Curaçao (Meteo) has issued a warning for rough sea conditions along Curaçao’s northern and western coastal areas on Wednesday, according to a press release from the weather service.

From the morning hours through the afternoon, until approximately 4:00 p.m., high waves and strong winds are expected. These conditions may cause coastal waters to become unsettled and rough.

Meteo cautions that small boats positioned close to the shoreline face an increased risk of damage due to breaking waves. In addition, beach facilities and coastal infrastructure may experience inconvenience or disruption as a result of possible coastal flooding.

Swimmers, as well as owners and operators of coastal facilities, are being urged to exercise extra caution during this period. Meteo indicated that the situation will continue to be closely monitored and that a further update will be issued if conditions change.

The weather service advises the public to remain alert and to follow official updates throughout the day.
