MediaLab Curaçao Launches New Educational Programs for Schools

| By Correspondent March 10, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – School classes in Curaçao will once again have the opportunity to participate in a new series of educational programs organized by MediaLab Curaçao.

The organization has announced a renewed offering of lessons and workshops focusing on digital skills, culture and social topics.

MediaLab develops tailored teaching materials for students of different age groups. The programs cover themes such as digital safety, media literacy, arts and culture, human rights and the history of the Caribbean islands. Digital literacy forms a central theme throughout the curriculum.

Focus on digital awareness

The initiative is aimed in part at students in the upper grades of primary education. One of the lessons offered is titled “Digital Safety: Who Am I Online?”, in which students learn about online identity and the potential risks associated with internet use.

In addition, MediaLab offers digital lessons from the SchoolvoorBeeld program, which combines subjects such as art and history with media skills and digital storytelling.

Caribbean Thinkbook

The Caribisch Denkboek (Caribbean Thinkbook) is also part of the educational package. The material, which is made available free of charge to schools, provides students with background information and assignments related to the history and culture of the Caribbean region.

MediaLab Curaçao has been organizing workshops and training programs on media literacy since 2011. The initiative began with lessons conducted in collaboration with the Biblioteka Nashonal Kòrsou and has since expanded its focus to strengthening digital skills among both young people and adults.

Schools interested in participating can register for the various lessons and activities through the MediaLab platform. The organization works together with partners including the national library and other regional institutions to further strengthen media education on the island.

With the renewed program, MediaLab aims to help young people develop stronger digital skills while also raising awareness of cultural and social issues relevant to Curaçao.
