Local, Tourism, | By Correspondent September 11, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao has welcomed the Margaritaville at Sea Islander on its inaugural call at the Port of Willemstad, adding another cruise ship to the growing number of vessels visiting the island.

To commemorate the ship’s first visit to Curaçao, a traditional plaque exchange ceremony was held on board.

Representatives of the Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA), Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB), Maduro Shipping and Curaçao Customs participated in the ceremony together with the ship’s captain.

The plaque exchange is a maritime tradition used to mark a cruise ship’s inaugural visit to a destination.

The arrival of Margaritaville at Sea Islander introduces the Margaritaville at Sea brand to Curaçao and further connects the island with the international cruise industry.

The inaugural call also expands the range of cruise brands bringing passengers to Willemstad, where cruise tourism remains an important part of the island’s tourism sector.

Curaçao continues to position itself as a Caribbean cruise destination, with visiting passengers contributing to activity in Willemstad and businesses serving the tourism industry.
