MAN-PIN Urges Curaçao Government to Take Clear Stand Against International Conflicts

Local, Politics, | By Correspondent April 10, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Opposition party MAN-PIN is calling on the government of Curaçao to take a clear and explicit position against international wars and to raise that stance within the Kingdom Council of Ministers.

The appeal comes amid rising global tensions and recent escalations of violence in the Middle East, including an attack in southern Lebanon that, according to the party, resulted in hundreds of casualties. MAN-PIN described the situation as a serious violation of human rights and stressed that violence against civilians is unacceptable under any circumstances.

According to the party, the issue is not only international but also directly relevant to Curaçao. As a small, import-dependent economy, the island is vulnerable to global instability, which can lead to higher prices and increased economic uncertainty. MAN-PIN warned that such developments tend to disproportionately affect vulnerable households.

The party is urging the government to express its position both locally and within the Rijksministerraad, where foreign policy matters are formally addressed at the Kingdom level.

In addition to its appeal to the government, MAN-PIN is calling on other political parties, civil society organizations, and religious institutions on the island to also speak out against war and human rights violations.

The call adds a political dimension to the broader discussion on Curaçao’s role within the Kingdom and how international developments can impact the island’s economic and social stability.
