WILLEMSTAD – Police have launched an investigation after the body of a man was found in the sea at Playa Santa Cruz early Friday morning, while a nearby parked vehicle was reportedly discovered with blood on the front passenger seat.
The man was discovered by a fisherman who was preparing to launch his boat to go fishing. After seeing the body in the water, he alerted authorities.
Police officers who arrived at the scene determined that the man showed no signs of life.
Investigators subsequently found a Hyundai parked in the area. According to local newspaper Èxtra, blood was visible on the vehicle's front passenger seat, while the car key was found lying on the trunk of the vehicle.
It remains unclear whether the blood found inside the Hyundai belongs to the deceased man or whether the vehicle is directly connected to his death.
Police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery, including how the man ended up in the water and what may have occurred before his death.
Authorities have not yet released the man's identity or provided information about possible injuries or a cause of death.
The investigation is continuing, with police expected to examine the vehicle and other evidence from the area to determine whether the man's death resulted from an accident, a crime or other circumstances.
