WILLEMSTAD – Police have arrested a man following a hit-and-run collision that occurred on the Abraham Mendez Chumaceiro Boulevard, according to the Korps Politie Curaçao.
The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon when a black SUV reportedly drove against traffic and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle. After the crash, the driver fled the scene without reporting the accident.

Police said that parts of the vehicle, including the bumper and license plate, were left behind at the scene. Using the license plate, officers were able to trace the registered owner’s address.
The SUV was later located at a residence on Kaya Egeo in the Vista Royal area.
According to authorities, the suspect refused to respond to calls to come outside. A prosecutor’s assistant was then consulted, after which officers entered the home and arrested the man.
The suspect, who holds Dutch nationality, has been taken in for questioning. The vehicle involved in the collision has been seized as part of the ongoing investigation.
No further details have been released about the condition of those involved in the crash.
