WILLEMSTAD – A 43-year-old Curaçao-born man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and threats following an incident early Tuesday morning near an establishment on Helmin Magno Wiels Boulevard in Otrobanda.
According to the Curaçao Police Force (KPC), the Police Dispatch Center sent a patrol unit from the Otrobanda police station to the location around 2:51 a.m. after receiving a report of a case involving assault.
During the initial investigation, officers determined that an argument had taken place between the man and a police officer at the scene. The confrontation later escalated into a physical altercation between the two.
Police identified the suspect as I.G.R., 43, born in Curaçao, and arrested him on suspicion of assault and making threats.
The suspect was brought before an assistant public prosecutor, who ordered his detention pending further investigation.
The police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident remains ongoing.
