Local, Police, | By Correspondent May 8, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – A large-scale security operation aimed at tackling crime and strengthening public safety was carried out this week at Curaçao International Airport as part of ongoing efforts to combat criminal activity that authorities say is destabilizing the community.

The joint operation involved the Korps Politie Curaçao, the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee Caribbean unit, and Douane Curaçao.

According to authorities, the coordinated action focused on the detection of illegal firearms and narcotics, with several targeted operations conducted throughout the week.

In total, officers inspected 60 motor vehicles, five motorcycles, and 93 individuals during the operation.

The enforcement action resulted in the seizure of several brass knuckles, multiple knives, quantities of marijuana intended for personal use, and a weighing scale believed to be connected to drug-related activity.

Authorities also identified several traffic violations during the operation, leading to the confiscation of multiple vehicles.

The operation forms part of broader efforts coordinated through the Actiecentrum Ondermijning Curaçao (ACOC), where judicial and enforcement partners continue to work together to design interventions and strengthen barriers against different forms of criminal activity.

Officials say the collaboration between law enforcement agencies remains essential in addressing organized and destabilizing crime on the island.
