WILLEMSTAD – Lizanne Dindial has stepped down as deputy chair and member of the Council of Advice Curaçao after reaching the maximum term of service.

Dindial joined the Council in 2011 and was appointed deputy chair in 2017. During her time in leadership, the institution introduced several reforms aimed at strengthening its role and transparency.

Among the key changes were the implementation of open application procedures for filling vacancies and the formal establishment of a maximum term for members. The Council also took steps to increase its visibility as an independent advisory body.

In recent years, legal opinions issued by the Council have been published online, accompanied by explanatory notes, while the timeframe for releasing these opinions has been shortened.

Dindial will be succeeded as deputy chair by Ludmila Vicento.

The Council of Advice plays a key role in reviewing draft legislation and advising the government, making it an important institution in Curaçao’s legislative process.
