WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao's Meteorological Department is forecasting the arrival of a light concentration of Saharan dust, which is expected to slightly reduce visibility across the island over the coming hours.
In addition to the dust, rougher sea conditions are forecast both north and south of Curaçao. Authorities are advising operators of small boats to exercise caution due to higher waves, while swimmers are encouraged to remain close to shore.
The weather forecast calls for partly cloudy skies through Tuesday morning, August 4, with a chance of isolated showers during the morning hours.
Saharan dust regularly reaches the Caribbean during the summer months, carried across the Atlantic by strong easterly winds. While light dust events typically have only a limited impact, they can reduce visibility and affect air quality, particularly for people with respiratory conditions.
