During the working visit, the foundation’s mission and activities were discussed in depth. Cova was accompanied by KPEK’s secretary and general coordinator, Marbella Felipa.
During the constructive meeting, KPEK explained its core mission: improving the quality of education in Curaçao and strengthening the professional development of teachers and school leaders. Established on 20 May 2010, KPEK has been active for more than 15 years as an independent organization dedicated to educational innovation and improvement on the island.
The foundation’s guiding vision is summarized in the principle “maestro ta e yabi,” meaning the teacher is the key. From this perspective, KPEK works on practical initiatives that support day-to-day educational practice. These include projects focused on quality standards for teachers, the development of social educational maps for schools, and platforms that promote professional exchange among education professionals.
In addition to structural improvements, KPEK is involved in projects such as the development of a Mapa Sosial Edukashonal, designed to help schools and education professionals identify support services and resources available to students. Other initiatives focus on strengthening the role of teachers and reinforcing the education sector as a whole.
During the discussion with the Governor, KPEK emphasized the importance of continued cooperation between government, educational institutions and civil society organizations to achieve sustainable improvements in education quality. Through this dialogue, the foundation aims to contribute to broad-based support for both current and future generations in Curaçao.
