Kortijn Becomes New Owner of Lovers

Local, | By Press release April 9, 2026

Quality of all products and jobs guaranteed

WILLEMSTAD - Today marks an important chapter in the history of Packers Provisions Curaçao (Kortijn) and Lovers Industrial Corporation (Lovers). For the first time, the two ice companies have come together to form a major player on Curaçao—an event that is expected to leave a lasting mark on the island’s history.

The local company will produce more than 160 tons of ice per day, covering a large share of the Curaçao market, especially with the continued growth in tourism, which is driving higher demand.

Lovers was declared bankrupt on January 14, 2026, raising concerns among employees and the wider community. However, those concerns have now been addressed. Given the size of the company, it was necessary for the appointed curator to carefully review all details. After completing the process, the curator selected Kortijn’s proposal as the best option to ensure continuity of the business.

From that moment, all parties acted quickly and efficiently to maintain production and protect jobs. Within less than two weeks, an agreement was reached, and it can now be confirmed that Kortijn has acquired the assets and operations of Lovers.

Kortijn’s management expressed pride in the acquisition, while also acknowledging the responsibility that comes with it. The company’s top priority is to maintain the established quality of the products. In addition, all employees will retain their jobs, and the company will continue building on the legacy created by its founders.

Operations will remain unchanged, ensuring continuity in both product quality and business activities under Kortijn’s leadership.

With the acquisition completed, the focus now shifts to integrating both operations. The company aims to continue growing the brand and is counting on the support of employees, stakeholders, and loyal customers who have long appreciated the products.

The message is clear: the tradition continues—now stronger than ever.
