KLM Expands Curaçao Flights for Summer 2027 as Tourism Demand Continues to Grow

Local, Tourism, | By Correspondent October 20, 2026

SCHIPHOL, WILLEMSTAD – Dutch airline KLM will increase its flight frequency between Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and Curaçao during the summer of 2027, adding extra services in July and August as demand for travel to the Caribbean island continues to grow.

According to Dutch aviation and travel industry publication Reisbizz, KLM will introduce two additional weekly flights between July 7 and August 1, 2027.

The extra services will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays, bringing the airline's schedule to two daily flights on those days during the four-week period.

The additional flights will be operated using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, which KLM already uses for long-haul international services.

The announcement represents another expansion of air connectivity between Curaçao and Europe, following similar capacity increases announced by TUI and Corendon.

Additional Flights During Peak Summer Travel Period

KLM's decision to increase its summer schedule will provide additional travel opportunities for passengers flying between the Netherlands and Curaçao during one of the busiest vacation periods of the year.

The airline will add a second flight on Wednesdays and Sundays, increasing capacity on the Amsterdam–Curaçao route during the specified period.

The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner is a long-haul aircraft used by KLM on intercontinental routes.

The temporary expansion is particularly relevant for Curaçao's tourism industry, which depends heavily on reliable international air connections.

Additional flights can provide more travel options for vacationers, residents and business travelers while potentially increasing the number of visitors arriving from the European market.

The airline has not announced that the additional frequencies will continue beyond August 1, 2027.

TUI and Corendon Also Increasing Capacity

KLM's announcement comes as other airlines are expanding their services to Curaçao.

TUI has already announced plans to introduce flights between Düsseldorf, Germany, and Curaçao during the summer of 2027.

The airline intends to operate the route twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays, using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

The service will primarily target travelers from Germany, although Dutch passengers, particularly those living near the German border, will also be able to use the connection.

Corendon has also announced a Düsseldorf–Curaçao service for the upcoming winter season, beginning in December 2026.

That route is scheduled to operate three times weekly through the end of March 2027.

According to earlier industry reports, Corendon has seen substantial interest in the Düsseldorf connection, including from Dutch travelers.

Together, the announcements indicate growing airline interest in providing additional capacity to Curaçao from both the Netherlands and Germany.

Tourism Arrivals Increase by 10 Percent

The additional airline capacity comes amid continued growth in Curaçao's tourism sector.

According to figures cited by Reisbizz, Curaçao welcomed 10 percent more stayover visitors during the first eight months of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025.

The increase suggests that demand for the island as a vacation destination remains strong.

Growing visitor numbers can support hotels, restaurants, transportation providers, tour operators and other businesses that depend directly or indirectly on tourism.

The expansion of air services also creates opportunities for Curaçao to attract visitors from a broader European market.

While the Netherlands remains an important source market, additional flights from Düsseldorf could make Curaçao more accessible to German travelers and passengers from neighboring regions.

More Connections, More Opportunities

The announcements by KLM, TUI and Corendon reflect a broader expansion of European air connectivity with Curaçao.

For the island, increased airline capacity can contribute to tourism growth and provide more flexibility for travelers planning vacations or family visits.

However, the number of additional visitors ultimately generated will depend on passenger demand, ticket availability, pricing and actual flight occupancy.

KLM's temporary summer expansion is the latest indication that airlines are responding to the continued popularity of Curaçao as a Caribbean destination.

With additional flights scheduled from Amsterdam and new services planned from Düsseldorf, Curaçao is preparing for stronger European air connections during the 2027 travel season.
