King and Queen Congratulate Curaçao on Dia di Himno i Bandera

THE HAGUE, WILLEMSTAD – King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima have extended their congratulations to Curaçao on the occasion of Dia di Himno i Bandera (Flag and Anthem Day), the island’s national holiday.

In their message, the King and Queen highlighted the historical significance of July 2, noting that exactly 75 years ago, Curaçao’s first Island Council convened for the first time.

“On Dia di Himno i Bandera, your national holiday, you celebrate your vibrant culture, your positive energy and your faith in the future,” the royal couple said.

They also expressed appreciation for Curaçao’s place within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

“How wonderful it is to have a self-confident country like Curaçao within our Kingdom. We feel closely connected to you and wish all Curaçaoans a wonderful holiday.”

Dia di Himno i Bandera is celebrated annually on July 2 and marks an important moment of identity, pride and reflection for the people of Curaçao.
