WILLEMSTAD – Otrobanda has been transformed into an open platform for art and creativity this week as Kaya Kaya Artweek brings the work of more than 30 artists to different locations throughout the historic district.

The event began Monday, August 17, and continues through Saturday, August 22. Activities start daily at 6:00 p.m. and admission is free.

Throughout the week, visitors can explore works by participating artists at various locations across Otrobanda, one of the historic districts that forms part of downtown Willemstad.

According to the organizers, Kaya Kaya Artweek is intended to provide a platform for a diverse group of artists while demonstrating how art can strengthen connections between people and their surroundings.

The event also places Otrobanda itself at the center of the experience, combining the neighborhood’s streets and urban environment with artistic expression.

Kaya Kaya has become closely associated with efforts to use culture, art and community involvement to bring new activity to Otrobanda. With more than 30 artists participating in this year's Artweek, organizers are inviting residents and visitors to explore the neighborhood and experience the different works on display.

The program continues every evening through Saturday, August 22, starting at 6:00 p.m.
