WILLEMSTAD – Capacity shortages in Curaçao’s police force and prison system remain a major concern, according to findings from the 2025 annual report of the Raad voor de Rechtshandhaving.
The report identifies staffing shortages and operational limitations as recurring issues affecting law enforcement and detention facilities. These constraints limit the ability of institutions to perform their duties effectively and safely.
Inspectors also warn that such weaknesses can have broader consequences, including reduced public safety and pressure on the justice system as a whole.
The findings underscore the need for sustained investment and structural improvements to strengthen institutional capacity.
