THE HAGUE – Minister of Justice Shalten Hato has held talks with Bart Snels, the Dutch government's special envoy for Efficient Government, to explore ways to modernize Curaçao's public sector and improve government services.
According to Hato, the meeting focused on reducing bureaucracy, streamlining government processes, and enhancing the quality of services provided to both citizens and businesses.
The minister described the discussions as productive, emphasizing the importance of preparing the government for future challenges through modernization and institutional reform.
Hato said the conversation highlighted several key factors necessary to build a government that is more efficient, accessible and future-ready. These include strengthening collaboration, promoting the exchange of knowledge, and maintaining a willingness to critically evaluate and improve existing government processes.
"The challenges are significant," Hato said. "But through cooperation and a shared vision, we can continue building a government that is better connected to the needs of our community."
The meeting forms part of the Curaçao government's broader efforts to improve public administration, increase efficiency within government institutions, and provide more effective services to the public and the business community.
