Local, Health, | By Press release July 6, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – The Council of Ministers has appointed Joram Parabirsing as Curaçao's Acting Inspector General of Public Health following the retirement of Dr. Sirvin Keli.

The appointment, proposed by Minister of Health, Environment and Nature Tyron Boekhoudt, took effect on July 3, 2026.

Parabirsing is a pharmacist by profession and has served as a Medicines Inspector within Curaçao's Public Health Inspectorate for the past five years. During that time, he has gained extensive experience in pharmaceutical regulation and public health oversight.

As Acting Inspector General, Parabirsing will oversee the inspectors working within the Public Health Inspectorate until the government appoints a permanent Inspector General.

One of his key priorities will be strengthening the Inspectorate by recruiting additional inspectors for its various units, helping to enhance the department's capacity to carry out its regulatory and supervisory responsibilities.

Minister Boekhoudt officially presented Parabirsing with his national appointment decree and wished him success in his new role.

The minister said he is pleased with the appointment, noting that it will ensure continuity in the work of the Public Health Inspectorate and allow the organization to continue carrying out its inspection duties without interruption while the recruitment process for a permanent Inspector General is underway.
