Prior to the presentation, Scholte and Engels discussed several challenges the Court is expected to face in the coming years.

Among the topics addressed were housing and infrastructure issues affecting the Court’s various locations throughout the Dutch Caribbean, including the ongoing renovation of the historic City Hall building in Curaçao.

The discussion also focused on the importance of continued support from the four countries within the Kingdom of the Netherlands to ensure a strong and properly functioning judicial system.

According to the Court representatives, an independent and effective judiciary remains one of the essential pillars of democracy, requiring sufficient financial resources and long-term structural support to continue fulfilling its responsibilities in the future.
